Day Of Surgery
- If you are scheduled at the hospital for outpatient surgery, register at the Emergency Department entrance. If you are scheduled for inpatient surgery, register at the main entrance at the hospital. Please arrive two hours prior to surgery, unless otherwise instructed by your surgeon.
- If you are scheduled at the Surgi-Center, register at the West Pavilion entrance on the first floor. Please arrive one hour prior to surgery, unless instructed by your surgeon.
- Please bring all insurance cards and/or medical coupons.
- Do not eat, drink, chew gum, chew tobacco or smoke the morning of your surgery.
- Do not apply cosmetics or hairspray.
- Please shower or bathe prior to your surgery.
- If you wear contact lenses, glasses, or dentures, bring a case for their safe keeping.
- Leave all jewelry, body piercings and valuables at home.
- Take medications with a small sip of water as directed by your pre-admission nurse or surgeon.
- Wear casual and comfortable clothing and shoes. All clothing will be bagged and locked securely until you depart. If you will be staying the night, you may bring a small overnight bag with personal care items. You will be asked to change into a hospital gown, slippers and robe. No undergarments will be worn to surgery.
- Your heart rate, blood pressure, height and weight will be recorded. Anesthesia is based on these numbers.
- Your surgeon will come in to answer any last-minute questions you may have before surgery.
- You will be taken to the operating room where surgery will start.
- Your family will be notified after surgery and may rejoin you after recovery.
